1.  Look over the mission statement of October 22nd.

2.  Get a copy of the Stolen Lives book from Amazon.com  or from the National Office October 22  (info@october22.org).

3.  Contact the National Office of October 22nd at info@october22.org  to let them know of your interest. Indicate if you are willing to be an organizer for October 22nd in your area, and if your email address can be put up on the website as a contact.

4.  Call a meeting of interested people and publicize it.

5.  Do outreach to families of people killed by law enforcement, and seek out people from different sections of society – students, immigrants, clergy, civil liberty activists, lawyers, others – who would be interested in this area.

6. Decide what form of activity makes the most sense for your area – a vigil, rally, march, workshop, forum, concert, tabling and distributing leaflets, an art show. Expose the issues involved in police brutality, repression and the criminalization of a generation. Educate people as to what is going on, and give them some way to express their solidarity and outrage.
Sometimes something as simple as a banner that people can write messages on will work.

7.   After your event on October 22nd,  send an email to the national office (info@october22.org ) about your event so that the report can be included in the newsletter for that year.

Get in touch. Get organized. Stay in touch.
On October 22nd, wear black!  Fight back!.
